A Bruce McLean print I saw locally yesterday. So 1980s it hurts! Also, what a title: ‘Hot Slick’. Always enjoyed watching Bruce McLean operate at private views in the late '80s/early '90s: nothing more intriguing than a bullshitter who knows his stuff and puts it to good use in a Duchamp-ish way. Truly Bruce had his cake and ate it, and then went back for seconds. I’m pretty sure we tried to get him to come and give us tutorials when I was on the Fine Art BA in Liverpool but the department’s budget simply wasn’t sufficiently Bruce-sized.
