I love that the Nobel people have now opened up the Literature prize to songwriting now (though they’d earlier neglected to recognise Doris Lessing’s ‘The Golden Album’ of experimental beatboxing, or Harold Pinter’s habit of putting a tribute to John Cage’s 4'33" in each of his plays). The Abstract Expressionist show at the @royalacademyarts is really good. Great mix of ‘big’ and 'less big’ names. Some fantastic Arshile Gorky pieces, a superb Pollock room, some great multicoloured Franz Klines, and then a stunning huge Joan Mitchell at the end.
